Hi Stacy,
My name is Giridhar and first of all, thanks for answering pateintly (with quality posts) to the queries of such a large pool of applicants. I believe that the help extended by you is appreciated by each and every person in the forum.

I had a couple of queries to you.

My Profile is as follows:

AGE: 26
Total Work Experience: Will complete 4 years by this year end.
GMAT : 710 (V38 Q49)
TOEFL: 103 (got screwed up in speaking coz., of the pathetic instrument ..As otherwise I am a good speaker and a writer)
Acads : I don't say I have any extraordinary Acad Stats to boast of but I would say I have been above average throughout.
Work: Worked in the second largest Indian IT Company for a couple of years.
I am currently working as a Software/IT-Consultant in one of the Fortune 200 companies.
I have not had any official Leadership roles given but I have technically been a mentor to 3 to 4 People in my previous company. I have also guided my present colleagues (again only in some technical aspects) in many ways.
However, I am expecting myself to be in a lead's Role officially in my team, shortly.

Extra Curriculars:
1) I am a professional South Indian Classical Singer and have performed in a couple of Concerts tho there is a very long way to burst into fame.
2) Have represented my college/school and participated in many singing competitions n won lots of prizes.
3) Have participated in some science Exhibition competitions in my school, Essay writing and other such extra-curricular activities.
4) Have been a host in organizing some (very few to be frank) programs that reflect the culture of South India.

I am basically interested in General Management (spec in Consulting) and my long term goal is to do Consulting. I want to gain expertise in the field of General Quality (not QA which pertains to only IT Industry but something generic) which would cater to the needs of diverse industries. When I say diverse industries, it could range from an Aerospace Industry to an Oil company to an IT giant. I am not sure whether a thing like that exists or not but my long term goal is to end up with a profile of a Quality Consultant.

Please pardon me if any of my ideas is a misconception as these are early days and am still planning my career goals but my inclination, atleast of-late, has been towards the field of Quality (tho I know a very little about it as of now )

Please suggest me schools which suit my goals/interests and profile.

I have the following schools in my list:

ISB Hyderabad INDIA
Emory Atlanta
ROSS Michigan
UNC

I would like to select 3 more schools but I am still in a dilemma about them. I was initially inclined towards Columbia and Chicago but thought I will select some elites in the place of these powerhouses so that the probability of getting into them with a scholarship would be more. Kindly assist in deciding the remaining schools and please suggest if my other schools selections are correct.

Thanks once again o behalf of all 08ers

Cheers,
Giridhar

Hi Giridhar,

What was your criteria for picking the three schools you mention? Are you planning to work in India after school? I'm not familiar with quality consulting - can you explain a bit more? Would that be an operations type of role? I think refining your short and long-term goals a bit more would be helpful in terms of choosing the other three schools.

Good luck!

Amy
