Hi Folks:

I'm interested in hearing whether some people in this community have chose not to apply to business school because of the difficulty of securing a student loan, due to the current credit crisis.

It really makes me upset to think that people have to give up or delay their education due to something they had no control over! If you are in this tight spot right now, my sympathies. Sad

good point.

id also like to know what people are hearing / have been told about the status of student loans for this and next year.

columbia told me that they will have guaranteed loans this year (i.e. the Fall 2009 intake), and they don't know about next year.

Yeah, I've heard rumors that MIT has been having some serious problems securing student loans for its students. Curious to learn more details!

I have actually heard that a lot more people are going back to get their masters now that the economy is in a recession. I have 5 or 6 friends who have work experience and we all just decided on our own that we wanted to go back. I talked to my friend about this and he said that he read in business week that it is a natural phenomenon for that to happen in a down economy because it almost "buys" people time.

I am still planning to apply to b- school for the next fall semester. I am usually an optimistic person but with things the way are I beginning to have concerns. However I have always been told never to skimp on education.
