I wud have said C, but answer says B. can someone take the time to explain pls?

total = 3y ........ (b)
from Statement (2) we have
total purchased = 60% of x + 80% of y
= (60/100) 2y + (80/100) y
= 2y
percentage purchased = (total purchased / total) * 100
= (2/3) * 100
SUFFICIENT.
