Which Programs should I target? Post Thu Mar 22, 2012 1:26 pm
I am a 27 year old Indian MBA aspirant, with 6 years of work experience in Sales and Marketing after graduation and 3 years of full-time work experience during my under-graduate studies. I am currently working as an Area Sales Manager for Bacardi Martini India Limited, I have been working here for 4 years and have earned 4 formal recognition for exceptional performance. I am now preparing for GMAT and plan to give it in two months. My undergraduate program was a 3 year program leading to the degree of 'Bachelor of Commerce'. A drawback in my profile remains that I passed with a low score of 48% (Our institution do not give scoring in GPA). I would honestly admit that I neglected my studies to give all attention and time to my job. In fact it is this deficit of a strong academic training is that I look forward to fill up with a good MBA program. My goal is to be able to handle national level operations of an mnc after my mba.
Looking to my work experience and academic situation as well as my goals, please advice which programs should I look into and how should I compensate for my low GPA.
Also, a very major factor is that I am financing my studies Myself. Owing to that, I planned to take up a program in India itself, although I do find the idea of studying abroad in a good B-school very promising. Please advice if I stand a chance of securing an admission in a good b-school abroad and getting financial aid. Thank you.
