1) The range of these 5 numbers is 9
2) The median of these 5 numbers is 21

What's the target question?
The subject line of your post reads " What is the average (arithmetic mean) of 25, 2" so I'm assuming that this is a portion of the intended question.

In the case of 1), x=21,22 is possible, so it is not unique, thus not suffi. In the case of 2), x=21,22 is possible, hence not suffi. In the case of 1)&2) you get x=21,22 and it's also possible, thus not unique, hence not suffi. So the answer is E.

- Forget conventional ways of solving math questions. In DS, Variable approach is the easiest and quickest way to find the answer without actually solving the problem. Remember equal number of variables and independent equations ensures a solution.
