Dear Stacy,
I'm an international student, no work experience, graduating Jan. 2008, GPA overall 3.83 BA major Anthropology. I speak fluently 3 languages, and 2 more not badly.
I'd like to apply to some b-schools for starting my mba in 2008. I have seen many admission profiles on businessweek, and I've taken particular attention to the mean gmat score of accepted students. By the way, there is also a range of gmat scores. Let's say I would like to apply to Louisiana State University, ok? There, the mean GMAT for the last entering class was 613, with a range of 540-700. Given a mean GPA of 3.41 and a mean work experience of 1.5 years, what do you think it would be a GMAT score I should go for if I want to be admitted there? Would a 630 be good enough?

Thanks a lot!

Roberto

Sounds like you should be fine with that GMAT and a strong story. Good luck!

Dear Stacy,
thanks for your input. I forgot to mention that LSU last year had a 65% acceptance rate.
May you tell me also if my profile would be good with these?

Baylor University mean GMAT 606 GPA 3.31 Years of Work Experience 2.9
University of Oklahoma GMAT 603 GPA 3.40 YoWE 3
University of Pittsburgh GMAT 625 GPA 3.36 YoWE 4

What GMAT should I go for in order to be accepted to these schools? I've taken a TurboPrep GMAT practice test and - without too much review yet - I scored 590, Q 39 V 31. Do you think I could reach the 640/650 mark?
I would like to remind you I will graduate from University of Turin in January 2008 with a BA in Anthropology, my GPA is about 3.80 and I don't have post-bacchelaurate work experience. Anyway, I have worked part-time in the past, I've been selected by a local company for a 1-month long internship and I've run for nearly two years an online based business with a chinese wholeseller, where as a vendor I earned satisfactory profits (I acted on commissions, no contracts). Will this work experience be counted favourably?
May I ask you if you have other schools to suggest me?

I know i'm asking many things, and I'm thinking about using your consulence too! But a preliminary answer would help me truly a lot. I really need confidence before embarking on this!

Thanks!
