Topic: What are my chances?
PostThu Aug 24, 2006 5:38 pm

Hi Stacy!

My name is Razvan Mocanu. I'm originally from Romania but I went to college in the US. I would very much appreciate it if you could look over the profile below and tell/write me what kind of chances I have for getting in one of the B-Schools mentioned below. Thank you very much for your time. I *really* appreciate it.

Undergrad. Degrees -- from Northern KY University

BS Computer Information Technology / Minor: Comp. Sci.
BS Business Management / Minors: Business Admin., Entrepreneurship
I will graduate in May 2007.
*NOTE* The Entrepreneurship program @ Northern KY Univ. has just been ranked as one of the Top 20 in the nation -- or so, I've heard.

GPA: 3.4

GMAT: 680

Academic Achievements
Various Academic Honors -- Dean's List / Scholars' List etc.

Extracuricular Activities
Tutoring Freshmen/Sophomore students for their Computer Information Tech. classes.

Full Time Work Experience
Umm.... none. I know that's not good.

Part Time Work Experience
Internship with the Northern KY Chamber of Commerce. Position: Web Developer.
Internship with a *large* Venture Capital company. Position: Account Executive.

*NOTE* I DO know that internships/part-time work experience is really NOT a big deal for the TOP B-Schools admissions' commitees.

Professional Certifications
MCP /CompTIA A+ / Cisco CCNA etc.

--------------------------------------------------------
Schools I'd like to get into:
--------------------------------------------------------

1. Purdue
2. Darden
3. Wake Forest University
4. UNC - Chapel Hill
5. Emory

+ others I was hoping you could suggest.

Thanks for your time.

I *really* appreciate your input,
Razvan

I am sorry to say that your chances of being admitted are very slim without some full time, legitimate work experience. My suggestion is to go and work for at least a year, but ideally 3-4 years.
