I appeared 2nd time yesterday after my first attempt.
Indian Male IT. Around 12 years experience. Good profile.
1st : 600 Q - 44, V - 28
2nd : 660 Q - 49, V - 32
1st:
I originally started my preparation around 3 years ago but then stopped due to various personal reasons. Then I started preparing again early this year and appeared sometime in August and scored 600.
I prepared mostly using Manhattan books, OGs and few materials from the net. I gave all the 6 tests from Manhattan.
Scores :
Mar-05-11 660 44 36 NO AWA
Mar-09-11 700 46 39 NO AWA
Mar-22-11 680 47 36 NO AWA
Apr-19-11 660 49 32
Jul-22-11 680 48 34
Jul-25-11 680 46 37
Few 800Score.com exams. Max score was 740. Minimum was 680.
GMATPrep - 1 710 (don't remember the split)
GMATPrep - 2 700 (don't remember the split)
But the result that I got in the main exam was entirely different i.e, 600. I just couldn't my score.
I felt miserable. It was a devastating score. I was hoping at least for 680.
2nd attempt:
After lot of effort I decided try again. This time I focused more on verbal part. I wanted to make sure that I'm not making any mistakes in any of the OG questions. I first started with OG-11 SCs and repeated it several times to the extent that I know why each choice is wrong / right. I randomly pick up 25 SC questions from OG-11 and try it with time pressure. Finally, it reached the level that I made hardly 1 mistake out of 25.
Repeated the same with OG-12, OG-12 Supplement. Mix matched OG-11 and OG-12.
CR is never a problem for me as I generally don't make many mistakes.
RC was sometimes hit and miss when I started. So focused more on RCs in my 2nd attempt. Tried RCs of both OGs several times. The accuracy percentage just shot up.
Now I started taking Manhattan tests. Reset the scores since I've already done all the 6 tests, hoping that I wouldn't get that many repeat questions. Honestly, I didn't remember answers for most of the questions except few CRs.
Generally, once I see a CR I don't forget that CR and the logic behind it for my life time.
2nd attempt scores:
Oct-09-11 720 46 42
Oct-16-11 740 47 45
Oct-23-11 720 48 40
Dec-18-11 710 47 40
Dec-21-11 750 48 44
Dec-27-11 710 48 38
GMATPrep-1 : 760 Q-50, V-42.
GMATPrep-2 : 710 Q-46, V-42
Real exam 660 : Q - 49, V - 32.
I've no idea what is happening in the real exam. In both of my experience, I feel that the verbal questions including CR are no where nearer to the OGs and other questions in the market.
SCs are very abstract. Particularly in yesterdays 2nd attempt, I hardly got any questions that have to do with parallelism, modifiers, etc.
I'm not sure I should take 3rd time. Even if I decide so, not sure where to start. Completely drained out mentally as well as with the materials.
It is quite depressing when you put all your energy and still get beaten down.
I've decent profile compared to my pool and with score of at least 680 (balanced Q & V), I would be able to get into good schools.
None of practice scores are relevant to the scores I got in the real exam. Highly polarized scores
This forum, its users and its experts have helped me tremendously in learning lot of tricks.
I thought I should at least finally share my experience.
If any of you have any particular questions, please feel free to ask.
Thanks

"Target Test Prep is the closest to the official version of the GMAT exam, about 99% accuracy in terms of the quality and quantity of information. The course has excellently created singular sets of focused lessons and tests for every possible topic that one could come across in the official GMAT exam."
"The TTP course maximizes the efficiency of the time you spend studying. It will take time and effort but I could almost guarantee that if you complete the course exactly as it is laid out you will get an amazing score. They also have a very responsive team willing to help with any questions you might have."
"TTP has two things that I think no other test prep company offers: A teaching approach that reinforces understanding and an attitude that will give you the mental preparedness needed to succeed on the test. TTP gives you a deep understanding of the concept you need to know while teaching you how to think."
