Social Fingerprint & Admissions

by mans.sultan » Fri Oct 21, 2011 3:53 pm
I just learned that MBA programs check applicants' social fingerprint and do a thorough Google search with his/her name and may check his facebook pictures, tweets and linkedin profile. Well, this is semi-bad news for me...there's a killer here in my country whose fame name is called after me (couldn't you sir pick someone else?). It was a big accident here based on a religious clash, so it has been covered immensely worldwide. Whenever you search my full name, these news/blog posts come up along with my twitter/fb/linkedin/articles..etc. Will this affect my candidacy? The only good news is that my stuff is grouped together in the 1st-6th results then this news is all over the place. How can I mitigate this damage? and to what degree is it vital to my candidacy?
Thanks ahead for your help

Hello mans.sultan, thanks for your question.

I can understand your worry, but I genuinely think that you need not be too concerned. You're not the killer, right? As long as it is reasonably clear that you and the killer are different people, I would not worry.

Best of luck,
Brian
