If x and y are positive. is y< 2 ?

(1) x > 2y
(2) x < y + 2

The OA is C.

Do we need both statements together to confirm that y< 2 ?

(1) x > 2y
(2) x < y + 2
Statement 1: x>2y
Case 1: y=1, x=10
Case 2: y=3, x=10
Since y<2 in Case 1 but y>2 in Case 2, INSUFFICIENT.

Statement 2: x<y+2
Case 3: y=1, x=2
Case 4: y=3, x=2
Since y<2 in Case 3 but y>2 in Case 4, INSUFFICIENT.

Statements combined:
Linking together 2y<x and x<y+2, we get:
2y < x < y+2
2y < y + 2
y < 2.
SUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is C.
