Ash,
Good to hear from you!
So the first thing is: maybe you can tell me your reasons for wanting to pursue an MBA? I mean my main thing is that as a senior manager leading a team of 50 in a big4, Im not sure that an MBA will get you anywhere higher than that.

That plus the fact that you have an MBA already makes me wonder whether this is the right path for you (Not that I want to convince you not to do it, on the contrary.. I just don't see how it makes sense)

Maybe if you could also clarify your goals a bit more, it might help me understand why you wish to pursue this trajectory.

Best,
Jon

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the reply.

Main reason I want to do MBA at the moment is to switch from Consulting to Industry and work predominantly in Europe.

I want to transition towards General Management to get more exposure in scaling the business at global level. As this will help me realizing my long term goal of founding a tech startup. I previously founded a search engine optimization startup post graduation which generated profit but I had to drop out of it due to some personal reasons. So,I have a fair bit of exposure there and have learned a lot from my previous mistakes.

Now the major challenge I find is around gaps in my general management skills and I think there is no better b school than INSEAD for me. I wish to extend my network and switch function along with geography.

Appreciate your feedback!

Ash,
Well I guess INSEAD could help you do that, but once again you might be able to do that without an MBA (just by looking for a job) because really the experience you have is stronger than what most people get AFTER they graduate! And an MBA isn't free. And your salary isn't likely to go up that much.

That having been said, both INSEAD and IMD might be good for you, as well as a myriad of other EMBA programs, if you are also looking into EMBAs.

Best,
Jon

Hi Jon,

Thanks so much for the reply.

Broadly I want to do INSEAD MBA is to extend my network further and to have global MBA(previous one is local MBA).

My current career direction makes it a bit difficult to make this transition specifically to work in Europe as I need some interface to adjoin my goals for next 3-5 years. I am interested in doing FT MBA only and am planning to do this MBA from last 2 years. Now is a right time for me as am on verge of reaching my milestone to become Director in Deloitte.

Can you please suggest what are my chances given am interested in INSEAD only( I personally believe no other program can match intensity and exposure am looking for).

Appreciate your reply very much!

Well,
Again I honestly think there are other programs out there that can fit - there's a huuuuge media market in London, so LBS Oxbridge would be just as good. And IMD, also relatively industry-heavy and with older candidates could fit.

Ultimately the choice is yours.

As for INSEAD... if your strategy is "INSEAD or Bust" do your chances even matter? :) What I mean is that just take your shot cause you have nothing to lose. If you want us to really evaluate your chances, then my suggestion is to drop us a line for a Free Consultation, because I don't yet have enough info about your experience to gauge things well: https://admissionado.com/free-consultati ... n=mba_blog

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks Jon, Yeah I agree with you about INSEAD part ,its just that I was applying for R3,so was trying to get some insight into my profile.

LBS is off my list as its not 1 year MBA but will think about IMD .

Will surely drop in if I seek detailed info

Cheers!
