Are you sure you correctly transcribed statement 1?

Target question: Which person walked further?

Statement 1: Dianne walked 3/4 as many miles as Jody.
Well, that's pretty useful.
Clearly, Jody walked further
Since we can answer the target question with certainty, statement 1 is SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: After Jody stopped walking, Dianne kept walking until she had gone 9 miles.
There are several scenarios that satisfy statement 2. Here are two:
Case a: Jody walked 1 miles, and Dianne walked 9 miles, in which case Dianne walked further
Case b: Jody walked 10 miles, and Dianne walked 9 miles, in which case Jody walked further
Since we cannot answer the target question with certainty, statement 2 is NOT SUFFICIENT

Note: We cannot assume that Jody and Dianne hiked together. It's possible that, after the first hour, Jody had walked 10 miles and Dianne had walked 1 mile. Then Jody quit walking and Dianne walked another 8 miles.

Answer = A

Cheers,
Brent
