Reckon it's got to with the spot-hear-and extract method.
A sounds a bit weird.
continue until... a li'l weird
continue as long as... correct idiom usage. As X As...

This is a case when as long as will be preferred over until

As long as is used when an event occurs as long as something else is true. In this case it is as long as supplies last.

Until is used to describe something in the future.

I will stay up until dawn. (My staying up doesn't depend on anything)

I will stay up as long as you do as well (My staying up depends on something)
