Lets say mean = m
And standard deviation = s

Now as per the question:
98 = m + 3s
58 = m - 2s

Solving the above equations for m gives m = 74.

Therefore 74.

The difference between the two given data points is 98-58 = 40.
The distance between these points is of 5 standard deviations.
=> Standard Deviation = 40/5 = 8.
Mean = 98 - 3*8 or 58 + 2*8 which indicates 74 is the answer.
