total length = pi * r + pi * r + 2 L (distance between the two centers)

total length = 15 (given)

15 = 2 * pi * 0.5 + 2 L

then L = 15 - pi / 2 (ans)

can you please show where the 2L comes from? I just dont see the distance you are discussing...As far as I see I would subtract L not 2 L.
