We can get the following equation from the question: 50x=30y
Where x is the number of shelves holding 50 books
y is the number of shelves holding 30 books.
We need to find the value of y.
St 1: y=6+x
50x=30(6+x)
x=9 and y=15
St 2: x=9
450=30y
y=15
Hence both sts alone are suff and answer is D
