Veritas Prep Practice Exams Post Sat Apr 14, 2012 10:47 am
Hey Everyone,

First post here.

I have a question about the scoring of practice exams. I took a GMAC practice test last week and I got a Q:47 V:41 for a total of 720, but today I took a Veritas practice exam and I got a Q:49 V:42 for a total score of 700. How is that possible? I did better in both categories and the total score is lower.

Any insights would be appreciated!

Thanks!

The scoring on all unofficial practice exams is not quite perfect because we don't have access to the exact scoring algorithm. I know ours tend to score a bit harder as you found out.

This is a good resource for estimating your overall score based on your section scores: http://www.800score.com/score2.html

Again, not perfect, but between what that calculator tells you and what the exam itself tells you, you should have a pretty good idea of where you're scoring.

I took the test today, but did not find it at par with GMATPrep. The questions were too easy in quants, though I did silly mistakes. Almost 80% of questions were from either weighted average or allegations. I got so bored that I guessed few and landed with a Q43.
Verbal was equally dismal. All the CR and SC questions were conversions from OG with changed context. Surprisingly, 1 of the CRs was repeated 2 times!
Overall I got Q43, V33 and score of 620. I am not happy in anyway as I did too many careless mistakes.
This test was not much of use, though not absolutely useless.
And it still continues with old GMAT pattern with no IR.

Having read brilliant comments from Verita's experts in the forums, I expected a little more from Veritas. But...
