Timing - ADVISE!

by ggg » Mon Jul 05, 2010 3:48 am
Hi All,

I am making statistics regarding the time i spend reading the RC passage and answering on each question depending on a type.

Attached is the passage from OG 11 (attachment - 1) and questions (attachment - 2) .

# Q Time
37 0.33
38 0.47
39 1.38
40 1.03
41 0.56
42 0.56

passage 3.02. total time 7.35

Can anyone tell me whether i did good or i need to speed up?!

In general, how much time should i spend on reading the passsage?

I really want to improve my perfomance in verbal part!!! and RC is my main weakness...

thanks,

G

Need to speed up I guess... time spend on the passage would depend upon the familiarity with text..

American History for example is a pain point for lot many international candidates... whereas scientific topics are relatively easier for them.

btw how many questions did you get right?

one thing i see is...

39 1.38
40 1.03
41 0.56
42 0.56

each time you answer a question.. you become more familiar with the passage.... so the subsequent questions take less time... try if you can improve on the 1:38... i know its a tough question though....

Hi arora007, thanks for your reply!

I had all correct answers and i was very pleased with the results as RC is hardest part for me in GMAT.

Actually, i find scientific topics very intimidating and even prefer American History topic.

I agree that i need to speed up, What about the time i spent on reading the passage.. is it ok?? This passage is relatively long...

I am now deciding whether to read the whole passage or not... Probably I will read it... What's your strategy?

Regards,

G
