Thoughts on European B-schools and my profile

I would really like to go to an international(outside the US) school. Preferably in Spain, but I am interested in INSEAD, IMD, LBS. I want the international experience and would like to learn spanish and have a more international career. I studied French and Italian in College and lived in Florence for a semester and Paris for a summer. I am just trying to figure out what my expectations should be in regards to my desire to go to one of these schools.

GPA, major, school - I was a double major in Art History and Econ at a small well regarded liberal arts school in Maine. Who has a very rigorous econ dept that wholheartedly did not believe in grade inflation and made a point of it. Our Prof only gave 2 A's out of 40 students in our macro Theory class no curve no nothing. I graduated with a 2.9 without too many excuses, I really did not attend class to the level that would be ideal.

- GMAT with breakdown -I just took my first practice test cold got a 620 hoping for 700 but wondering what will be the minimum to reach my desired school

- resume highlights, including company name, job titles and promotions -I work for a bulge bracket investment bank in the equity research dept. I have experience covering many different industries and for many years I was an options trader as a member of a prominent commodities exchange. I have developed a unique skillset with alot of hardwok and struggle most of the people that hold my current job are MBA's from top schools.

- extracurricular involvements -When I was in college I played baseball, I volunteered for big bros, big sis but I am no longer active. I work long hours and truthfully do not have much of a life. Part of the reason I want an MBA for a change in direction.

- awards, patents, publications, etc... -I have no awards, I have passed level I of CFA, I publish stock research on a daily basis.

- interesting personal facts - I have lived all over the US went to many different schools when I was younger. Study abroad in high school and college.

Your thoughts and insight are greatly appreciated. I am also wondering about the use of consulatants like yourself Am I essentially at a disadvantage if I do not use one because my competition is?

Like most applicants - it sounds like you have some strengths and weaknesses in your profile. Your numbers are below average, and the lack of activities could be an issue. However, it seems that you have very good work experience. You will have to put together a compelling story and perhaps get involved with some activities, but you certainly have a shot. An improved GMAT will help too, of course. It's hard to say - it's never a sure thing but you have some very good things going for you.

With regards to consultants - we can help some people a great deal but certainly are not for everyone. If you respond well to working with a coach, it may help you to take your application to the next level, but it is by no means a "must" for all applicants.
