We know that the triangles are similar.

Now there is also a formula:

Ratio of areas of two similar triangles is the square of the ratio of the lengths of corresonding sides.

Thus we have

A1/A2 = s^2/S^2

As 2A1= A2

1/2 = (s/S)^2

sqrt(1/2) = s/S

S= sqrt(2) * s

Hope its understandable
