Ans should be D
Question says Out of 14 (5+2+7) people there are 12 women and children
Stmt 1 - there are 12 women and children so total no of people = 14
Stmt 2 - no of men < 4. To satisfy the ration of 5:2:7 no of men has to be 2. Again total no of people = 12 |

(1) The total number of women and children in the room is 12.
(2) There are fewer than 4 men in the room. |
Statement (1)
(a)5x+2x+7x=z x=multiplying factor, z is actual total number of people
women+chlidren=12 => 5x+7x=12 solve for x and plug it back in to (a) to get total number
(2) men<4
Find out multiplying factor which doesn't produce fraction for women and children. Only when men=1 will the numbers be a whole number.
