Beat The GMAT is an MBA discussion community with a mission to help people achieve their full potential on the GMAT® and business school admissions by connecting them to the best resources available. In this spirit, Beat The GMAT is proud to host the annual Beat The GMAT Scholarship competition, co-sponsored by ManhattanGMAT and Stacy Blackman Consulting. Thanks to the generous donations made this year by ManhattanGMAT and Stacy Blackman Consulting, we will be distributing five scholarship packages valued over $15,000 this spring!

People who apply for the 2008 Beat The GMAT Scholarship must meet the following requirements:

  • Finished college, or in final year of college
  • Has a PayPal account to receive cash prizes

This competition is open to international candidates.

Application Details

After confirming the eligibility requirements listed above, the candidate must submit the following details in order to be considered for the 2008 Beat The GMAT Scholarship:

  • Full Name
  • E-mail Address
  • Current Mailing Address
  • Beat The GMAT Username (register here)
  • Years of Work Experience, or Year in College
  • Names of two references – include full contact information and description of relationship to you
  • Details on how you heard about this competition
  • Essays Responses:
    • 500 word limit - REQUIRED: Why do you deserve this scholarship?
    • 300 word limit - REQUIRED: Why do you want to go to business school?
    • 300 word limit - OPTIONAL: Are there any special circumstances you want us to consider? Examples: financial need (proof of financial need highly encouraged, e.g. latest pay stub), major life events, etc.

Candidates must submit this information in the body of a single e-mail to scholarships@beatthegmat.com. We will not read attachments.

Key Dates

May 15 - Last day to submit application to scholarships@beatthegmat.com
May 22 - Winners announced on the Beat The GMAT Forum as well as in a widely-circulated press release featuring your name, picture, and bio.

Other Information

  • Be sure to carefully read the instructions above prior to submitting your application. Any candidate that does not follow the requirements (example, going over word limits on essays) will be automatically disqualified from this competition.
  • Winners will be decided by a panel of judges represented by Beat The GMAT, ManhattanGMAT, and Stacy Blackman Consulting.
  • ManhattanGMAT online courses are available for domestic and international candidates who do not have access to a ManhattanGMAT teaching center.
  • Scholarship winners must redeem prizes prior to May 15, 2009. Awards no longer available after this date.
  • There is an attendance requirement for ManhattanGMAT courses—all winners must attend at least 7/9 courses. Individuals who miss more than 2 sessions will be (a) withdrawn from the course, and (b) charged a $500 fee.
