Due to the fact that Jordan wrecked Bono's station wagon during a road trip last summer, she has not been and probably never would be allowed to drive her father's car.

(A) has not been and probably never would be allowed to drive
(B) has not been allowed to drive and probably never will be allowed to drive
(C) has not and probably never would be allowed to drive
(D) has not and probably will never be allowed to drive
(E) has not and probably never will be allowed to drive

Torn between D and E but on the test I would go with E...

Can we get the OA on this one?

reachac,

Can you tell how you choose D? The reason I didn't go with D even if D was concise when compared to B is, I wasn't sure if "ellipsis" is used properly with choice D.

I mean, when we see the choice D, I thought "has not......be allowed to drive her father's car. " doesn't make snese(omitting ,probably will never be). Apprciate your response as to what made you choose D?

My Choice is A. Below are my explanations

B --> allowed to drive is redundant.
D --> there is some uncertainity in the sentence (probably) so need would rather will.
E --> Same as D

Between A and C.
C --> for the past tense you need "been" and future is proper here.

Let me know whether this is correct.

what is the OA?

(A) has not been and probably never would be allowed to drive--probably-would make sense together--the answer

(B) has not been allowed to drive and probably never will be allowed to drive--probably will--will is too definitive a word to go with probaly

(C) has not and probably never would be allowed to drive--been is required

(D) has not and probably will never be allowed to drive--been is required

(E) has not and probably never will be allowed to drive--been is required
