Q11:
According to the passage, human activity has had which of the following effects on salmon populations?
A. An increase in the size of salmon populations in some previously polluted rivers
B. A decline in the number of salmon in some rivers
In first para author says that the numbers have reduced and at some places specieis became extinct
C. A decrease in the number straying salmon in some rivers
D. A decrease in the gene flow between salmon populations that spawn in polluted streams and populations that spawn in pristine streams
Human activity caused salmons to spawn in other pristine stream and so they mix with existing salmons in that area and gene flow increases. So choice D is wrong
E. A decline in the vulnerability of some salmon populations to the effects of naturally occurring habitat destruction

Why is D not the answer for Q.11.

In the passage its mentioned-

Such a dra-
(75) matic increase in straying from
damaged areas to more pristine
streams results in substantial
gene flow, which can in turn lower
the overall fitness of subsequent
generations.

Some explanation would be helpful. Thx.

Hi Everybody and Vivian

Don't you think about why we btg-members don't see the CORRECT ANSWERS given by Vivian or other btg-instructors? After forum, we, absolutely, see the true answers and check our own choices. Something is really wrong in this approach. I really hope btg-instructors hear my request and share the one true, real answer. Otherwise everybody is just bringing her/his own perspective to the questions. It is not satisfying!

Hi Everybody,

Why don't we see the correct answers of this "Salmon Habitat's questions" given by bug-instructor? Why are we lacking it? If we are not sure what the true choices, than what is the meaning of spending time to read the questions and struggling to solve this reading here?

Please, btg-instructors! Here me and give the correct replies of questions!
Regards,
Tuba

Really difficult RC passage
But If one concentrates fully during reading no passage is difficult.

(E)
(D)
(B)
(C)

This whole passage took me five minutes on the nose.

Q9 - E
Q10 - D
Q11 - B
Q12 - C (although I considered E).

I have found that I'm pretty good at verbal relative to math as I haven't practiced any "strategies" for this stuff. Looking forward to finding out where to improve on it though.
