Hi

Ive exhausted all the practice tests that I have ( Princeton, Manhattan, Gamat Prep) - today I tried re-setting the Manhattan exam - but saw a fairly large number of repeats. What I want to know is, how do I monitor my performance increase or decrease? I scored 90 points higher, but that can be due to the repeats.

Would like to get a response from the MGMAT folks.

Hi sumithshah,

Unfortunately, our CAT pool is only designed to feed students with 6 full-length practice GMAT exams, which is why you are seeing many repeats the second time though. Hence, your score improvement is likely due to seeing repeated material rather than actual improvement.

I think this highlights the important issue of making sure not to over-do the practice tests. Practice tests are a very useful tool in gauging a student's ability level on the exam, but will not do a good job building new skills on the exam. At this point, I think it would be best if you took a break from practice tests and focused on some of the material in ManhattanGMAT Strategy Guides if you have them available.

If you are still hungry for practice tests later, check out GMATPrep from MBA.com. These tests will provide you with a very accurate prediction of your performance on test day. Be careful, though - you only get two!
