Hey there,
Great to hear from you!

So first of all, if you hit that GMAT score you are targeting, your school list is a very fair one. You have a good range of tougher and easier schools on your list.

Other than that, if you are planning and remaining in Oil and Gas, I can also recommend you to look into Haas, McCombs, Rice, IMD, INSEAD.... they can all be good choices for you.

Other than that, for a full on evaluation, I need a LOT more info from you - school name, employer name, titles, promotions, greatest achievements, volunteer work, sports, community service, religious involvement, leadership.. etc. before I can give you a real evaluation.

It will also be very helpful if you can elaborate upon your goals.

Have a look at some of the other very detailed profile requests on this board and do something similar and I'll be happy to get back to you.

Best,
JF

I hope this helps! And feel free to drop us a line for a free consultation.

Hello Jon! Tks for the evaluation, now let me try to fill in some blanks here:

GPA - BSc Petroleum engineering from UFRJ (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) - 2.8
Post graduation diploma from Fundação Dom Cabral (Ranked 28th on the FT - Exec. Education) - 3.6

Work Experience:
- Devon Energy(10 months)- Jr. Drilling Engineer
- BP (6 years - Current employer) - Wellsite drilling engineer (3 years - offshore) Operations Drilling Engineer (3 years)
Went trhough an extensive training program with BP. I've completed more than 800h of training in BPs training centers in Houston and London
One good achievement was leading 2 other engineers on a performance improvement project. We were able to reduce the Non-productive time on the rig from 40% to 21% in 1 year.
Working currently as the Single Point of Accountability in a very challenging project in the Brazilian Amazon

Career Goals: After the MBA, my goal is to work with business development for the energy business. I intend to work as a consultant first and them move to a big energy company.

My priority is to come back to Brazil, but i am also open to work abroad, mainly US or UK

Extracurriculars:

Volunteer as BP representative in a Brazilian Comitee of International Oil & Gas Operators, working on new regulations with the brazilian government.

Previous Extracurriculars:

Worked as TA & was awarded a fellowship from the Production Engineering Department to work as research assistant during university

Worked as Math teacher preparing students to join the Brazilian military academies.

Public Relations of the Student Body during high school

Interests: (Fun fact) I am very curious!!! So i do a bunch of research about the MOST diverse topic you can ever imagine. Besides that, I am a jiu-jitsu and judo practioneer, i also like soccer and reading.
(*don't know if its good but i also DJ)

So far so good!
Your work experience is interesting. The only one thing I can add is that the more leadership you have the better.

The one big weakness is your undergrad GPA which can make accessing schools in the Top 10 quite difficult - Haas and Kellogg are likely out of range (Average GPA is 3.6), so you may want to focus your energies elsewhere as they are very long shots.

Of course, within an overall strategy it's totally fine to have a dream school or too, but they might just be a bit too tough.

Best,
Jon Frank
