I am applying for round 2 to UVA, Duke, and Wharton. What are my chances??

Education

Colorado State University degree in Business Admin specialized in Marketing
3.4 overall GPA 3.7 in my Major

I studied aboard for a year in Barcelona, Spain.

Work Experience

Peace Corps Dominican Republic 2007-2010 as a Business volunteer
Customer Service Lead at Dick's Sporting Goods for 5 months when i first got back until i found a job in Denver as a technical recruiter
I have been a tech recruiter for about 8 months now and have trained and mentored 2 other recruiters, i should be moving into account management soon
I am a consultant for a PR company on the side and have tried to start a marketing initiative at my current company.

GMAT
I haven't taken it yet but i should be 680-700

Extra
I am a part of the Chi Omega alumni group here in Denver and do a lot of volunteer work with other peace corps volunteers.

I am most worried about my work experience, when i first returned i took about 8 months off and then took the job at the sporting goods store to get some income, i then took the job as a tech recruiter because i could not find a job in marketing. I am not sure how this will look to an admissions committee.

Thanks!!!

You have some good things going for you, one of which was your Peace Corp experience, which is a different background then you commonly see at MBA programs. Your GPA is OK. I like the study abroad and Peace Corp experience - global perspective. The eyebrow raising part of your background is the transition back post-Peace Corp. Hopefully, you filled your time with volunteer work and/or leadership experiences post-corp and technical recruiter. It's OK to have worked at DSG, but you will need to have a good story on how you filled your time and what is next for your career because it seems a bit disjointed.

Hopefully, you scored the 680-700 that you hoped for. Feel free to reach out to me for a free consultation eallen@admitadvantage.com.

I hope that helps.
