Manu,
I'm not sure why you are pushing to go to b-school right now. You could use another year or two of work experience to show the admissions committee that you can really deliver in the commercial world. At least one promotion with some managerial/leadership exposure would be ideal. Also, it would be ideal if you had a few more developed extracurricular activities. If you are stuck on going this year, it really depends what you want to do going forward. Can you give me some additional color on ST/LT goals?

Btw, if you are going to mention 3rd place in swimming, I hope it was in the Olympics, otherwise, I probably wouldn't mention it! In all seriousness, make sure that it was overcoming a barrier or a very competitive situation.

I hope that helps and I look forward to hearing back.

If i was an Olympics bronze medalist my country would have given me so much money that no MBA was required, jokes aside it was a state level competition if u say so i will not mention it

1)sorry for not mentioning this but want to apply for 2013 by then will have 2 years experience and will get 1 promotion surely

2)can u elaborate on how do develop extracurricular, because i still support non profit organizations and playing competitive sport is not possible

3) i want to apply as i don't get job satisfaction in Technical line/programming,but i find business line more interesting,as i am in technical line it will take at least 5years to get into
administration, and before that same programming has to be done it is becoming quite monotonous

4)it may sound childish but after hearing Steve jobs Stanford speech that you are gonna die ,follow ur heart i don't wanna waste my time doing things i am not interested in

5)i was diagnosed with a serious illness (not life threatening, but will stay with me)when i was in 1st year of college doctors advised me to take that year off but i continued and it did not affect my gpa, i dont want to mention this

6)short term goal is to get into consulting firm and apply my skills there, long term goal is to be a adviser to companies/govt on various subjects relating to projects done in (ppp model)public private partnership model,so will go for a phd in business administration also in future

7)family background Father-Indian Administrative service in Delhi India

Mother-Housewife
Brother - he is in Indian Foreign service, currently in Israel
Sister-MBA from Wharton 05 class currently working with JP Morgan India

my current age 23
hope this data is sufficent

Manu, love the profile picture and thanks for the information.

In terms of extracurriculars, it's about time and impact. Continue your involvement and take leadership roles whenever possible. AdComs will look at how long you've been involved and what you've done with your involvement

Seems like a good reason to apply (interested in business and pursuing your dreams). Just make sure you make that clear in your essays.

I think writing about your serious illness should be part of your application. You can talk about coping with the disease and how you've persevered through it all. As a cancer survivor myself, I found it important to talk about my disease and how it affected my life.

Your ST/LT goal makes sense.

I hope that helps.
