| I just took the Gmat on sat and received a 480 and am very disapointed. What should I do next. take it again and what should I study. I already took the Kaplan class, used information on this site and also looked at the OG11. Previous to this I was getting a consistent 550 in my Kaplan Cats and also the Cat from MBA.com. I am not looking to get a 700 just something from 550-600. What should be my study plan? private tutoring? just a take a few weeks and restudy the material and take the test again? Keep my fingers crossed and put in my applications explaining that Im not the best test taker and hopefully my work experience and essays will get me in? help!!! |

I would think about re-taking the test--it's perfectly fine to do so. If your target score is a 550+, I think it's reachable from your current performance.
The first thing you need to do is put a solid study strategy together. Spend some time looking through my GMAT blog, http://beatthegmat.blogspot.com to see what one successful strategy could look like. Also, take a look at the Beat The GMAT Resource Wiki for other great study resources, http://www.beatthegmat.com/scholarship/
Best of luck! _________________ Eric

Also, I believe Kaplan advertises some sort of guarantee if you score below what you score on the first diagnostic you took with them. If that applies to you, you should contact them and see what they are willing to do for you.
Also, I agree with Eric that improvement is possible, but you will have to make sure that you have a concerted study plan. You may need a few sessions with a private tutor to make this work. _________________ Stacey Koprince

Yes, Kaplan guarantees results so you can either take the class again at no cost or you can even get your money back. I checked this myself.
I would advice you to hire a private tutor, it makes a huge difference. _________________ Isis Alaska |
