I assume that the price mentioned on the menu is inclusive of sales tax.

S1: The total paid for the meal (M), sales tax (S), and gratuity (G) is $10.84.

We are given M + S + G = 10.84. We cannot get the value of M + S: Price on the menu. Insufficient.

S2: The sales tax (S) on food is 6 percent.

S = 6% of M = 0.06M

Thus, M + S = M = 0.06M = 1.06M. We do not know the value of M. Insufficient.

S1 and S2:

We have M + S + G = 10.84

=> 1.06M + G = 10.84. Since we do not know the value of G, we cannot get the value of 1.06M. Insufficient.
