Help narrowing my options

by awdj89 » Fri Dec 30, 2016 11:33 pm
Hello,

I am looking for advice on which MBA programs I might be a good fit for. I feel a bit overwhelmed by the variety of schools and programs out there and would like narrow my focus to maybe 8 or fewer schools before I begin the application process. I am mainly interested in learning about schools that value applicants with an entrepreneurial background or atypical work experience. I have been self-employed in the music industry since graduating from undergrad (3 years ago). Here is a bit of my profile if that helps:

GMAT: 690 (I may retake before applying)
Undergrad Degree: Business Administration with Accounting focus
Undergrad GPA: 3.4 (at Tier 3 University)
Work Experience: Self-employed 7 years (3 full-time, 4 part-time) in music publishing/licensing

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Hey there,
And good to hear from you!

Now, I'd LOVE to help you out and get down with your profile.

The thing is I am missing detail.

I need a LOT more info from you - school name, employer name, titles, promotions, greatest achievements, volunteer work, sports, community service, religious involvement, leadership.. etc. before I can give you a real evaluation.

It will also be very helpful if you can elaborate upon your goals.

Have a look at some of the other very detailed profile requests on this board and do something similar and I'll be happy to get back to you.

Best,
JF

I hope this helps! And feel free to drop us a line for a free consultation.

So what I do know about you looks promising but missing a lot of detail here. Especially about why you want an MBA and what your post-MBA goal is as that will make a huge difference when it comes to what schools would work best for you. You shouldn't only focus on where you'll get in but also where you want your MBA to take you eventually after all. So my first advice is to be really clear about that as it will help you narrow down your options.

The second part that I would need to know much more about is your work experience and details related to it. I understand you might not want to share too much information about all that in a public forum, however, so I would recommend you fill in the free profile evaluation request on ARINGO.com with as much details as possible about your work experience and we can get back to you with a better evaluation.

Last but not least: any interesting extra curriculars we should know about?
