Trying to explore few more errors as a part of analysis.
POE:Eliminated D,E as a modifier error and B,C idiom error(argue that). In B,C apart from idiom is there any other error?
Key to seeing what's going on in SC questions is going beyond looking for small grammatical or idiomatic type errors to looking at the sentences holistically to assess their effectiveness and figure out what their conveyed meanings are.

The truth is that the sentences created using the two choices that you eliminated are idiomatically correct. Those two choices can still be eliminated, however, because the versions created using them convey illogical meanings.

Here's a simplified version of the version created using choice B.

Using digital enhancements of skull fragments from five prehistoric hominids, anthropologists argue, so these human ancestors probably had hearing similar to that of people today.

The distorted meaning conveyed is that anthropologists argue by using digital enhancements, and further, the sentence seems to be saying that the anthropologists are human ancestors.

Now check out this simplified version of the version created using C.

Using digital enhancements of skull fragments from five prehistoric hominids, anthropologists argue, these human ancestors probably had hearing similar to that of people today.

This version conveys that anthropologists argue that these human ancestors were using digital enhancements of skull fragments.
