In a recent court ruling, a U.S. District Judge insisted that a school board removes the teaching of suggested creationism from its curriculum, claiming that the inclusion of such a topic violates the constitutional separation of church from state.

A - This answer choice is grammatically incorrect. Insist is one of the nine verbs to which the Subjunctive rule applies (if it is followed by that). This means that the next verb after insisted that should be in unconjugated form. However, removes is not an unconjugated form.
B - This answer choice is grammatically incorrect and repeats the original Subjunctive error.
C - Although this answer choice corrects the original Subjunctive error by placing the verb that follows insisted that in the base form (remove), it creates a Subject Verb Agreement error.
The inclusion of such a topic is an X of Y subject. In such cases, the verb should agree with X (the inclusion), which is singular. Therefore, the singular verb violates should be used, not the plural violate.
D - Correct! This answer choice corrects the original Subjunctive error by placing the verb that follows insisted that in the base form (remove).
E - This answer choice is grammatically incorrect. It repeats the original mistake .

@ Kasia.

A simple query, the school board is singular term so shouldn't removes be used instead of remove.?
