Chances at T10 Programs

by mattnyc15 » Sun Nov 08, 2015 8:09 am
Hi,

I plan on applying next year R1 to: Columbia, NYU, Northwestern, Michigan and Wharton.

What are my chances with the below stats, should I consider other schools and is there anything I should look at doing to boost my apps?

GMAT: 730 Target, (practice tests right below this now)

Education: UT Dallas, Management - Marketing, 3.37 GPA (Have some w's and f's on transcript, although strong finish)

Plan on taking, getting A's:

UCLA Math for Management, Extension Online
UCLA Calculus, Extension Online

Professional Experience:

Marketing Coordinator, mid size corporation - Ended up running social media strategy under CMO and VP of Marketing (1 year, 7 months)
2 month gap looking for tech industry position
Automation Marketing Manager, small software company (1 year)
Senior Automation Marketing Manager, same small software company (present)
Maybe take role at brand name company before application (would be 6-10 months before applying)

Volunteer:
Started and lead NYC Alumni chapter for my UG school 2013 - present
Advisor for social venture projects, just joined
committee member for mental health non profit, just joined (very passionate about issue)

Matt,
Thanks for the post. Based on what I see here, Wharton and Kellogg would be a bit of a stretch, though the other programs are more in your range. If you are considering a move, it should be a move to a strong feeder company and you should do it ASAP. You have two positions already so additional changes should be done with caution.

There are certainly things you can do between now and next year to improve your profile. Contact me if you are interested to discuss further. [email protected]
