Dilemma - is 620 a bad score?

by preeti7912 » Sat Sep 06, 2008 3:31 am
Hi

I am an Indian female professional. I took GMAT and scored 620 (one week ago) since then I am in severe dilemma whether to apply with this score or retake the exam.

I have 8 years of work experience and I am doing pretty well in my professional career. The only thing lacking in my career is a full time MBA degree from a reputed B School that can act as a catalyst in my career.

Currently, I am working as a Manager - Human Resources in one of the 100 Fortune Companies. I have handled 4-5 interesting and challenging projects in my career. My current annual (Indian) salary is US$37,500/-. I have attached my detailed profile.

I am interested in a one year full time MBA only, post which I can at least get a handsome salary package (US$80K-100K), skipping at least 2 levels in the organization hierarchy. I also wish to move into a consulting role after my MBA.

Considering above expectations, please advice whether I should retake the GMAT exam or apply with present score.

If you think that I can achieve my goals with 620 score, please send me a list of universities, B-schools in which I can get admission.

Thanks in anticipation,
Preeti

Hi P-
Thanks for your post. If you are interested in a top tier 1-year MBA program, then I do not believe 620 will be high enough, esp since you are in a very competitive applicant pool - Indian applicants. I would consider retaking the test and shooting for a higher score.

Regards,
