Why not B?????
B is incorrect for the follwing reason.
Plants are more efficient at acquiring carbon than fungi

1. This could mean plant can acquire carbon, and plant can acquire fungi. Out of the two things it can acquire, it acquires carbon more efficiently.
2. This could mean carbon can be acquired by fungi and plants. Of the 2 species that can acquire carbon, plants do a better job.

Because we can have confusion as to which meaning is right, this choice is wrong.
