Hello all,

I am in for round 2 this cycle, but want to know what you think of my profile:

27 year old Caucasian US Male
720 GMAT (Q49 V40 IR8 AWA4.5)
UG Major- Chemical Engineering 3.62 GPA, 3.8 in math and ChemE classes, Mid ranked Big Ten School

Work Experience: 2 years at top chemical manufacturer as a production engineer, 2 years at matriculation at a top consumer packaged goods company, working in manufacturing focused on continuous improvement and lean manufacturing, leadership experiences at both job by leading hourly work teams as well as leading projects across departments

EC's: Nothing too substantial, tutored throughout college (Paid and unpaid), lots of recreational sports leagues, some small volunteer jobs spreadout

MBA goal: Transition into brand management for a consumer goods company. My angle is that my analytical skills as well as experience in producing goods will give me a knowledge base that others in the brand roles may not have.

Applied to Kellogg and Booth this cycle.

Fire away!

Hey there!

Well, I think you might be a weeeee bit late for R2. R3 should be possible though, if you feel like going for this more challenging round.

Buuut my thought is that since anyhow, you don't have thaaaaat much work experience, you should probably just wait till R1 next year.

Oh yeah, BTW nice GMAT! And your profile seems pretty good so far from what I can see here,

Best,
JF

Thanks for the reply. I actually submitted for Rd 2 this year. Guess I'm just looking for some sort of affirmation or a way to pass this horrible wait for results! Hah

Hi there,

just joining in on the conversation. After reading your profile description I thought you would have a good chance at Kellogg, so I'm not surprised that at least got your foot in - waitlist, what a bittersweet spot to find yourself in! Are you proactively doing anything to try to get off the waitlist, or just waiting to see what happens?

Good luck,
Christine

Thanks, yes I started stepping up my extra curriculars back in December/January, wont add a ton, but will hopefully be something. I also am doing some business fundamentals classes online. I also did a fair amount of networking with current students and people in industry with the position I want. I mentioned all this in my update letters.

Next update looks to be Next Weds or so. But I've heard of people being waitlisted all the way to august...

Fingers crossed indeed! Are you starting to plan your R1 strategy in parallel? Better to have started and need to pull the plug because you rock the Kellogg waitlist than to not be prepared!

Thanks. Yea I've been going over my apps and finding weak spots, have upped my EC's a decent amount and am trying to take on whatever I can at work. Do you think doing Rd 2 and only Rd2 may have hurt me this cycle? I got a late jump last spring and didn't want to rush. Hoping if a re-app is needed that Rd1 will be better... We shall see!
