doubt 35

A controversial study suggests that the violent behavior displayed by some teenagers who play several hours of video games a day is due to developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain rather than the absorption of any specifically violent content.

* is due to developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain
* are due to developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain
* is due to damage to the developmental frontal lobe region of the brain
* are due to developmental damages to the brain's frontal lobe
* is due to developmental damages to the brain's frontal lobe region

my doubt: i have a concern regarding the word "developmental damage" in option A. can "damage" be ever "developmental" !! to me this expression looks more like an oxymoron . i later googled and found that there is something technical about "developmental damage". i had no clue about it and picked C in time constraint. How can we pick the right answer assuming that we do not know about "developmental damage"

developmental means growth-related.
The term developmental cannot be applied to a part of the body.
It is not possible to have a developmental arm, a developmental leg or a developmental frontal lobe region.

In A, developmental damage to the frontal lobe region refers to frontal-lobe damage that is GROWTH-RELATED.
In other words, the frontal lobe region does not develop normally.
