Guys ,

Please help me out and ls advise why the options is incorrect and correct.

Smith, a basketball player, successfully made 80% of the shots that he attempted this year - an exceptionally high percentage for a player in Smith's league. However, this statistic does not mean that Smith is an exceptional shooter, because the best shooters take many shots from risky locations 20 or more feet away from the basket. Instead, Smith's high shooting percentage simply shows that he takes most of his shots from locations very close to the basket.

Which of the following statements, if true, provides additional support for the argument?

A)Smith's shooting percentage for shots taken from more than 20 feet away from the basket is no higher than other players' shooting percentages from that distance.

B)Smith took most of his shots during games that were closely contested and in which his team could not afford the time and effort to set up easier shots.

C)Very few of the baskets scored by Smith's team from locations close to the basket were shot by Smith himself

D)The position that Smith plays allows him relatively few shooting opportunities from locations close to the basket.

E)Smith's shooting percentage, the highest in the league, was almost 10% higher than that of the player with the next highest percentage.

This is a strengthen question.

We want to say that even though Smith made 80% of his shots (an exceptionally high percentage) that this does not mean he is a great shooter. Instead it is because he took most shots from close to the basket while the best shooters take shots from 20 feet away or more.

If you look at the answers only choice strengthens the others all weaken.

A)Smith's shooting percentage for shots taken from more than 20 feet away from the basket is no higher than other players' shooting percentages from that distance. - This strengthens the idea that he is not a great shooter at the distances that great shooters usually shoot from.

B)Smith took most of his shots during games that were closely contested and in which his team could not afford the time and effort to set up easier shots. This weakens since it means he did not take so many close shots.

C)Very few of the baskets scored by Smith's team from locations close to the basket were shot by Smith himself - This weakens since he did not take many close shots

D)The position that Smith plays allows him relatively few shooting opportunities from locations close to the basket. - This weakens since he did not take many close shots

E)Smith's shooting percentage, the highest in the league, was almost 10% higher than that of the player with the next highest percentage.- This neither strengthens nor weakens since we already know that 80% if a very high percentage.

I believed it is "A"

Taking a shot few feet from the basket has higher chances of scoring....
