by anshuatreja » Sun Aug 10, 2014 7:27 am
Profile :

1) GMAT 620 - Q46 V29
2) Work Exp : 2 years
3) Education (Indian University) - MBA - 66.16% , BCA - 66.88%

Kindly suggest me few universities where I can apply with this profile. Few of the universities I`m targeting, based on this score, are Singapore Management University, York University - Schulich.

Thanks in advance

Hi Anshu,

The first question that comes to mind after reading your post is " Why second MBA?"I also have no clue about what industry and function you're in and what you want to do post MBA. So, it will be difficult to comment on schools. However, your work experience is very low and you should put in atleast another year to build your profile further AND improve your GMAT score, before you begin targeting international business schools. Good Luck and God Bless!!

Anshu,

Rightly pointed out that you need to explain second MBA.

Your GMAT score is low, but considering the schools you are applying to, it is in the vicinity. You can apply with 2 years work-ex (though it is less than avg work-experience for most schools), just make sure that your essays are super-strong.

Hi Mansie,

Thanks for your reply.

I`m planning to give GMAT again by end of this year.

Currently I`m working as an Account Manager - Client Servicing and post MBA I wish to work as a Brand Consultant.

During my Bachelor's degree in Computer Applications (BCA), when I was doing my internship, my job was to help install SAP in Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Ltd. I realized that programming isn't my true calling. After introspection, I decided to pursue a management course as a master's degree to further explore my interest in marketing. Upon taking some courses in marketing, an internship and some live projects my interest furthered in the stream and I knew I wanted to be a professional in marketing.

Now I have a goal to take my interest to next level. This time by getting international exposure and improved quality of Education.

Hi again anshu and thank you for writing back. Should you be able to push your score closer to the 700 mark, you can consider SMU and some of the other asian schools like Nanyang, HKU, HKUST and CIEBS. In Canada, you could also look at Sauder ( UBC) in addition to Schulich and AGSM and MBS if interested in Australia. Of course you could look at more ambitious schools if you cross 700. Let me know if you want to consider US and European colleges and if you would prefer a specialisation in Consulting. Will be happy to suggest schools accordingly.

Sure thanks.

I have already kept few countries in my priority list:
1) US
2) Canada
3) Singapore
4) France/Spain

I`m open only for two specializations - Marketing and Consulting. So, yes I can consider Consulting.

I mentioned Universities from Singapore and Canada because I know with 620 I wont be able to get good university in US or Europe, but I do have fair chance of getting admission from Singapore or Canada

I have started preparing for GMAT and I have set goal to improve my GMAT score atleast by 60 points. If I`m able to do so, I will surely get in touch with you.
