Farmslev Center

The Farmsley Center for the Performing Arts, designed by a world-renowned architect, was
built ten years ago in downtown Metropolis. A recent study shows that, on average, a person
who attends a performance at the Farmsley Center spends elghtv-threedollars at downtown
businesses on the day of the performance. Citing this report, the chairman of the Farmsley
Center's Board of Trustees contends that the Farmsley Center has been a significant source of
the economic revitalization of downtown Metropolis.

Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports the chairman's contention?
(A) The Metropolis Chamber of Commerce honored the Farmsley chairman this year for his
contributions to the city.
(B) Restaurants near the Farmsley Center tend to be more expensive than restaurants in
outlying areas.
(C) The Farmsley Center is the only building in Metropolis designed by a world-renowned
contemporary architect.
(0) For major theater companies on national tours, the FarmsleyCenter is the first choice
among venues in downtown Metropolis.
(E) Many suburbanites visit downtown Metropolis on wee.kends primarily in order to see
performances at the Farmsley Center.

IMO E,

Because if more people (suburbanites) visit FC during weekends and more income is generated, then there is a potential chance for economic revitalization.

In D, only those who are national tours are visited which is of course an add-on pint but not a true strengthener in front of E.

Please provide OA and experts is my thought process true

Paraphrased argument: Farmsley Center, a theater, attracts people and because of it people spend their day in town so Farmsley Center is beneficial for the economy.

Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports the chairman's contention?
(A) The Metropolis Chamber of Commerce honored the Farmsley chairman this year for his contributions to the city. --> We do not care about Chairman's contribution so OUT.
(B) Restaurants near the Farmsley Center tend to be more expensive than restaurants in outlying areas. --> Comparison of restaurants- Out of scope
(C) The Farmsley Center is the only building in Metropolis designed by a world-renowned contemporary architect. --> We do not care about the building, we care about economy, and Farmsley Center is not a tourist place :x. So OUT
(D) For major theater companies on national tours, the Farmsley Center is the first choice among venues in downtown Metropolis. --> If Farmsley Center is the first choice for venue then there will be many shows in Farmsley Center, and without audience for whom they will perform the show? If more people come to attend the show, more people will spend their day in downtown Metropolis. CORRECT.
(E) Many suburbanites visit downtown Metropolis on weekends primarily in order to see performances at the Farmsley Center. --> Only on weekend? Then how it will benefit economy? OUT

What is OA?

Premise: A person who attends a performance at the Farmsley Center spends elghty-three dollars at downtown businesses on the day of the performance.
Conclusion: The Farmsley Center has been a significant source of the economic revitalization of downtown Metropolis.

To support the conclusion, the correct answer choice must link the AVERAGE SPENT PER PERSON ON PERFORMANCE DAY to THE ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION OF DOWNTOWN METROPOLIS.

Answer choice E: Many suburbanites visit downtown Metropolis on weekends primarily in order to see performances at the Farmsley Center.
(many suburbanites visiting Farmsley Center)($83 spent per person on performance day) = SIGNIFICANT REVENUES for downtown Metropolis -- strengthening the conclusion that the Farmsley Center has been a significant source of the economic revitalization of downtown Metropolis.

The correct answer is E.

D: For major theater companies on national tours, the Farmsley Center is the first choice among venues in downtown Metropolis.
Here, it is possible that very few major companies embark on national tours and that very few people attend these tours, potentially WEAKENING the conclusion that the Farmsley Center has been a significant source of the economic revitalization of downtown Metropolis.
