(A) Even though Clovis points, spear points with longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces,
have been found all over North America, they are named for the New Mexico site where they
were first discovered in 1932. [correct!]

(8) Although named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932, Clovis points are spear
points of longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces and have been found allover North
America. [there is no contrast implied in the sentence. no need for a contrast indicator. Eliminated!]

(C) Named for the New Mexico site where they have been first discovered in 1932, Clovis points, spear points of longitudinal grooves chipped onto the faces, have been found all over North America. [suggests that they are still being discovered.Eliminated!]

(D) Spear points with longitudinal grooves that are chipped onto the faces, Clovis points, even though named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932, but were found all over North America. ['but' is a conjunction. it can connect 2 independent sentences only. 'subject' is missing after 'but'. Eliminated!]

(E) While Clovis points are spear points whose faces have longitudinal grooves chipped into them, they have been found all over North America, and named for the New Mexico site where they have been first discovered in 1932 [makes the same mistake as in C. Eliminated]

Hope this helps!

the s/c emphasizes on creating a contrast and to do so it must use correct contrast word
now coming to options

A)the intended contrast is pretty clear

b)use of AND in later part of s/c fades the contrast created by the use of although and indicates a continuation of the argument

c)the s/c has omited the contrast and has put the s/c in simple terms ; however in GMAT sub is always prefred to be place before the verb ....which is not followed in this option
and wrng tense------->have been found
d)were is plural
and wrng tense------->have been found

e) while is incorrect choice for creating contrast

They refers to the spear points if I'm not wrong.

Moreover, D is a sentence fragment.

Thanks,

Let me try to explain this :-

Even though Clovis points, spear points with longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces, have been round all over north America ,they are named for the new Mexico site where whey were first discovered in 1932

1) Even though Clovis points , spear points with longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces, have been found all over north America, they are named for the new Mexico site where they were first discovered in 1932.
2) Although named for the new Mexico site where fist discovered in 1932. Clovis points are spear points of longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces and have been found all over north America .
3) Named for the new Mexico site where they have been first discovered in 1932. Clovis points, spear points of longitudinal grooves chipped onto the faces, have been found all over north America .
4) Spear points with longitudinal grooves that are chipped onto the faces ,Clovis points , even though named for the new Mexico site where first discovered in 1932, but were found all over north America .
5) While Clovis points are spear points whose faces have longitudinal grooves chipped into them ,they have been found all over north America ,and named for the new Mexico site where they have been first discovered in 1932

In this sentence contrasting word are used Although, even though and while , these word should be followed by S-V not participle so Although named -->wrong , even though named -->wrong , even though , but within same sentence (See highlighted part )

Have been discovered is incorrect as have been used for some start in past and still continue to happen :)

So A wins :) :) :)

Hi everyone,

I am a little concerned about OA.

"Even though Clovis points, spear points with longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces, have been found all over North America ,they are named for the new Mexico site where whey were first discovered in 1932."

I think the explanation on why other options are wrong make sense. But, to me, the OA also has flaws. I read it somewhere say that " the tense of a whole sentence should be uniform". The relative clause, " where they were first discovered in 1932", is in simple past tense. Should the verb" are named for" be also stated in simple past tense?

Thanks in advance for clarifying my confusion.
