Hello,

Would like to get your thoughts.

Target schools in that order: Harvard, Wharton, Booth, Columbia, Haas, Sloan.

Indian Male, 25
Undergraduate: Comp Science with Honors & Management minor (UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Davis)
GPA: 3.6
GMAT: 750
Work experience: Second-tier strategy consulting (Deloitte, Accenture, PwC etc.). Rated among top 25%, promotion in 2 years. Work experience includes lots of international travel.
Extracurricular: Program Manager at a non-profit (overlooking a program with over 40 high school kids involved). I'm looking to get involved in more ECs (toastmasters, financial planning consultation for low income families).
Post-MBA goal: Investment Banking

Hi there,

Thanks for posting. Congrats on the GMAT!

There are a lot of Indian applicants with IT/computer science backgrounds, but given your professional experience is in strategy consulting, that sets you apart from that group. It sounds like you've got some good positives to your profile.... the GMAT of course; GPA is solid, solid work experience and promotion, international travel, sounds like some decent community involvement.

With your goal in investment banking, be sure you can explain the hows and whys there... why are you interested in it, how will the MBA help, how do you see your short and long term post-MBA goals shaping up.

You've listed a very competitive schools list. ;) Keep in mind getting in to schools like HBS is a challenge for all, given how competitive admissions is, but if you're able to showcase your accomplishments and impact you've made, and leadership, and fully explain how your past and the MBA lead to your future goals, anything is possible. Be sure to invest a lot of time and energy on your essays and applications to present the best possible version of yourself.

Good luck and let us know how we can help!
