selling price is S
S-150=0.4*S
0.6*S=150
S=250

profit = 250-150=100
Option E

How did you got second line "0.6*S=150"?

take all terms with S to one side.
S*(1-0.4)=0.6*S

Let x be the selling price.

150 +.4x = x

150 = .6x

x = 250

250 - 150 = 100
