Great bootcamp to kick start your essays

by sam2304 » Sat Jun 09, 2012 10:42 am
I attended the Advanced MBA Essay Writing bootcamp conducted by precision essay and would like to share my thoughts with btg folks who could benefit from it.

First and foremost thing - The bootcamp covered everything posted in the link - https://www.precisionessay.com/webinars/bootcamp/. It was a 3 day 4 hour bootcamp which assists you in writing a good essay by yourself. The essays will stand out only if you work on them. This bootcamp has done a great job in drafting the essays and also guide you throughout the session bringing the best out of you. Our session was conducted by Kyn, a wharton alumni, and he was simply fantastic listening to everyone's individual queries and answering them patiently. With less than 10 people attending the session, it was very interactive and we had more time to have our individual queries answered.

The first session was all about low gpa, low gmat, what adcoms expect from the applicants and how to write the career goals essay - what to write, which one to portray, how to connect your past experiences with your goals in a manner which draws adcoms attention. At the end of the session, we all had basic idea about how to frame our career goals essay and were given two days time to write our career goals essay. The second session started off with discussion about your career goals essay - some excerpts, critiques, what will work, what will not, how to make them better, where to include statistics and how to convince adcom to believe your essays, and sample good essays. Apart from that we also discussed about the standford essay as well - What matters most and why? We got our essays reviewed and edited. The third session went much deeper into the essays we submitted after the review and some good sample essays to show us how to write better and Kyn was providing some awesome ideas to portray yourselves better. Majority of our essays were discussed and everyone shared their opinions and suggestions on the essays. We were again asked to submit our second draft which was reviewed and sent back to us. By the end of the bootcamp I got a fine draft of my career goals essay.

Here's what you get at the end
1. What admissions committees are looking for in the essays.
2. What will work and what will not in the essays.
3. What about you will make you stand out.
4. How to tell your "story" to convince the adcoms.
5. A fine draft of your career goals essay reviewed by experts.

Personally I feel the bootcamp was of immense help to me in drafting the essays. It was a great experience that made all the difference and I highly recommend this. For anybody who is about to attend a bootcamp have a rough draft of your essays ready and along with their guidance, you will benefit immensely. Apart from any specific essays, you will also get a good understanding about how to write other essays as well. Have a thorough knowledge of what the bootcamp is about, what you are going to benefit from it and have your individual queries lined up for clarification. It may also include any of your personal queries about any other bschool as well.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.
