Hi netigen,

given that shaded area=blank area

Sum of Shade area=2*(3*3)+3y+2*(3*x) where undefined length of middle portion of shaded part=y
=18+6x+3y
Sum of Blank area=(3*3)+2*3y+3x
=9+6y+3x
So, 6x+3y+18=3x+6y+9
or, 3x-3y+9=0-----eqn1
Also, considering the fact that x+y+3=9 (side of square)
i.e. x+y-6=0---eqn2
from eqn 1&2 we get x=1.5

is the ans x=1.5?

Thanks my ans was 1.5 too but the OA is 2. I think the OA is wrong.
