Any info about Darden School of Business ?

I am applying to Darden School in second round. Any information about this college.
What profile would suit for that college ?

All I know is that this school has a great reputation and is typically ranked among the best MBA programs.

I think that it produces a lot of finance people too...

I am applying at Darden as well. It is my top choice even though it isn't ranked the highest. Really, it just seems to fit my personality and I love the idea of being in a small town and really getting to know everyone.

I think Darden is more of a General Management school because of its near exclusive reliance on the case method, which isn't quite the best way to teach finance.

The University of Virginia is of course among the most respected public universities in the country.

You can learn a lot about Darden by spending some time on their site. They might have a student blog or forum where you can talk to current students. There should also be some good info about it on BusinessWeek.com. They have a forum too, a b-school forum, with a lot of current Darden students on there.

It seems like a great school, and it's in a beautiful area. I have met a few Darden grads and they say it's a lot of work, but awesome because of the alumni network. The case method really brings them all together and builds teamwork skills. The Darden grads I've met are great speakers, too.

Interesting side-note: Jenna Bush's fiance is completing his MBA at Darden.

As someone who lives and works in the South, I will say that Darden's reputation is excellent in pretty much every major market in this area of the United States.

Hi Mac,

I would suggest reaching out to Darden directly. All top programs have multiple programs to learn more about the program (including blogs, info sessions, campus tours, student chats, alumni networking events).

Although school is probably out for the summer, they should have recruiting/admission activities throughout the year.

BTW - for any school that is your top choice, I would strongly recommend applying in the first round.

UVA has a great reputation in just about everything. I ha a bunch of buddies who went to law and b-school there, and the campus environment is phenomenal. However, they cite the alumni/fellow student network as the #1 advantage of the school. One of them is in Crawford right now...

Only knock against it I've heard is that professors rely a little too heavily on Socratic method.
