Hi Simplyjat

let me first thank you for your posts. It does help a lot

The problem according to me is in the word - "Despite"- "Although" is much better word here.

DESPITE- is used- to show- intention is there but the thing does nt work out finally. Although is much better word considering the situation

Both "Despite & No" which comes after it in the original sentence are negatives-so we can't use 2 negatives in the same sentence.

I chose C after delibrating a long time on E

this is because C ends with 'could' which I feel is much better than 'can'
'can' indicates it is true and the although statement is proved false
'could' indicates it may be true and the although statement is still true

why is C wrong then?

(C) Although the consumption of no particular foods have been proved to reverse hardening of the arteries, studies indicate that to refrain from eating certain foods could

subject of this sentence is consumption, so have must to be 'has'.
