Hello bblast,

Could you be more specific about your question? What information do you want with respect to the Operations vertical at Great Lakes. For your info, this area takes care of 3 aspects - IT, Operations and Supply Chain Management. This is preferred mostly by students who want to work in the manufacturing sector or as a consultant in the supply chain management space. Various industries are covered as a part of the curriculum and courses are taught by senior industry professionals.

Most of the IT courses are taken by students who want to pursue a career in project management, program management, procurement and vendor management.

Cheers,
Indraneel

Thanks indraneel for the prompt responses on the thread. My interest is operations/SCM.

I started my career in IT SAP. Worked for just over 2 years and then switched to join my Dad's group of companies. Here I handle a small manufacturing plant which I took from almost scratch and took it to a turnover of say a million rupees a month in around 1 year. So I am basically building a market for my product and also taking care of inventory/payment/SCM procedures and also process optimizations.

By april 2012 my work ex would be around 4 years.

2 IT + 2 Entrepreneurship.

Interesrtingly even in IT I was in manufacturing(PP) module of SAP for 2 years.

Would love to take insight of a Bschool student like you on my prospects and GLIM's offerings that would be useful to me.
Cheers !!

Hi Ganesh.Could you tell me what's the probable GMAT cut-off score for GLIM for a course which is starting in 2012?
Also, is a GMAt score accepted for the new 2 year mba program there?

Hey!

There is no cut-off score for GMAT as such. Great Lakes looks at your entire profile and does not concentrate on a single criteria.

Yes GMAT score is accepted for the 2 year program. For more details check out the following link -

It is with pride I mention that mention Great Lakes has added yet another feather to its achievements. Great Lakes Institute of Management has been applauded with the Green Chariot Gold Award by the Rotary Club of Madras for its 27 acre first and only Platinum rated campus. The award was presented on Saturday 4th June 2011, at Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation.

Below are some links to give more details about the campus and infrastructure.

Ramachandra Sundaralingam - A Super Hero

Yesterday, we had one of the most interesting and charismatic leader sharing his experiences. An international drugs expert, he has served 185 member countries for 17 years. He was granted European citizenship for his extraordinary service to the international police community.

Mr. Ramachandra was here @ Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai to give us a presentation on the war against drugs, money laundering and on several other topics. He spoke about the dangers associated with drug addiction and how India as a country is becoming a slave to Drug criminality. The plight and fate of some of the undeveloped countries and their exposure to drug trafficking was stressed on and Mr Ramachandra factually stated that 80% of the cocaine is produced in Columbia and 80% of heroin is from Afghanistan. He pointed out two role models who has affected the present day youth - Sachin Tendulkar and Osama Bin Laden. A 14 year old in Afghanistan finds refuge in AK-47 aspires to become Osama and a 14 year old in India with a cricket bat in his hand dreams of becoming Sachin one day.

He finished by saying "The drug war must be won in the class room and not in the court room. India is a great country, has great traditions and a lot of family values. We should embrace our culture and not fall prey to drug abuse".
