Dentist Profile advice

by ddsmba » Wed Oct 06, 2010 7:57 pm
Hello
I have been a dentist for a while but i don't enjoy the clinical part so i want to get an MBA in a top school but I want to remain in the dental/health-care field and maybe manage dental clinics.
Any advice or feedback on this post MBA goal? Is it an impressive/strong career goal that i could write in my essays?
Are there any other careers i can do after i get my mba?
thank you very much for your time.

Full time MBAs are good for career switchers, but in general, you should have a story that the committee can buy. Sometimes this means leveraging your experience to weave a coherent vision that integrates logically into a post MBA career. There are not a lot of Dentists that apply to b-school, so you could be at an advantage from a diversity standpoint, offering a different perspective in the classroom. Make sure you have a strong vision and interesting story to tell, a good GMAT score and you should be a very interesting candidate for b-school.
